From photography monographs to political histories to memoirs, the Briscoe Center’s holdings have inspired a range of titles encompassing key themes in Texas and U.S. history.

Eddie Adams bookThe Briscoe Center's ambitious publishing program has produced such books as On The Way: My Life and Times by Frank Denius and Thomas M. Hatfield; Destiny of Democracy: The Civil Rights Summit at the LBJ Presidential Library by Mark K. Updegrove; The Texas Way: Money, Power, Politics, and Ambition at The University by William H. Cunningham; Conversations with Cronkite by Walter Cronkite and Don Carleton; and Dolph Briscoe: My Life in Texas Ranching and Politics by Dolph Briscoe and Don Carleton.

McNeelyThe Briscoe Center partners with the University of Texas Press for the Focus on American History Series, which includes titles such as Comfort and Glory: Two Centuries of American Quilts from the Briscoe Center by Katherine Jean Adams; Houston on the Move: A Photographic History by Steven Strom; Texas Furniture: The Cabinetmakers and Their Work, 1840–1880 Vol. II by Lonn Taylor and David Warren; Selma 1965: The Photographs of Spider Martin by Spider Martin; Eddie Adams: Bigger than the Frame by Eddie Adams; The Making of Hillary Clinton: The White House Years by Robert McNeely; and Relentless: The Story Behind the Photographs by Neil Leifer.

Relentless dust jacketThe Briscoe Center has also collaborated with other presses to publish books based on our collections, such as Calvin Littlejohn: Portraits of a Community in Black and White, published by TCU Press. The Barker Texas History Series at the Texas State Historical Association features titles such as William Pitt Ballinger: Texas Lawyer, Southern Statesman, 1825–1888 by John Anthony Moretta, and Behold the People: R. C. Hickman's Photographs of Black Dallas, 1949–1992.
